The Prime Minister of Kosovo visited BCCI









 

The management of BCCI – President Tsvetan Simeonov, Vice-President Georgi Stoev and members of the Executive Council and Board of Directors met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo Hashim Thaci and small delegation of representatives of his cabinet on 18 June 2012. 


Mr. Simeonov stressed that Bulgarian business hopes Prime Minister Thaci’s visit will have a positive impact not only on the political but on the economic relations. He said that BCCI supports the idea of economic cooperation and safety on the Balkans, which includes Kosovo as an economic partner. The President informed about BCCI’s excellent traditional relations with the Chamber of Commerce of Kosovo. Since 2010 BCCI has provided assistance to its Kosovo partner for institutionalization and setting up of Arbitration Court with the local chamber. 
Mr. Simeonov expressed hope that the bilateral will be balanced, because at present it is highly unbalanced in favour of Bulgaria. Therefore, more information about the economy of Kosovo is needed. 


The Prime Minister of Kosovo Hashim Thaci, who is on an official visit to our country at the invitation of his Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borisov, informed that 91 countries have officially recognized Kosovo. Soon the process of monitoring the independence of Kosovo will end and the country will assume its own governance. In recent years, Kosovo has been developing its laws after the European model. In Kosovo there is market economy, the country is young and has great potential. An administrative reform is being carried out to facilitate business and foreign investors. In Kosovo the taxes are comparatively low just like in Bulgaria.


PM Thaci emphasized that there are Bulgarian companies already working successfully in Kosovo, but there are untapped opportunities. Both the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister Behgjet Pacolli outlined the perspective areas for bilateral cooperation: construction, mining, agriculture, energy, tourism. Mr. Pacolli informed that Bulgarian entrepreneurs are well known in Kosovo as trustworthy partners who keep their word.
