Greece defends tourism as its most dynamic sector



 
The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry was informed by its Greek partners – the Union of Hellenic Chambers of Commerce about a substantial drop in tourist traffic in our Southern neighbour, mainly caused by misleading reports published in the international press about the economic climate in the country.
 
In Greece tourism is one of the most dynamic and productive sectors, contributing decisively to the GDP growth, the reduction of unemployment and the expansion of tax revenues. 

Unfortunately, the economic situation in Greece has been misinterpreted according to the Union of Hellenic Chambers of Commerce, and our partner informs the Bulgarian and European businesses of the following:
- Despite the current economic difficulties and the complications in the formation of a powerful government, Greece is an absolutely safe destination for all tourists. All tourists are welcomed in the country in which hospitality is considered one of the defining characteristics of its culture. 

- Notwithstanding the disappointment felt by the Greeks due to certain unacceptable comments made by some European politicians who ignore the reality of Greece, the Greeks are deeply grateful for the assistance that they are receiving from the other peoples of Europe.
