BCCI to participate in a Conference on Trade, Customs and Transport Facilitation - Electronic Business and Port Community System
On 16 July in Sofia, Grand Hotel Sofia, a three-day Conference on Trade, Customs and Transport Facilitation - Electronic Business and Port Community System will begin.
As one of the organizers of the event, BCCI will present the use of the GS1 standards in electronic commerce, with an emphasis on the GS1 eCom standards, which are compatible with UN/EDIFACT. GS1 eCom are global standards for electronic business messaging (EDI) and provide clear instructions for creating electronic versions of various types of business documents to be exchanged between the trading partners.
During the conference special attention will be paid to the Single Window concept for trade facilitation, which enables international (cross-border) traders to submit regulatory documents at a single location and/or single entity. Such documents are typically customs declarations, applications for import/export permits, and other supporting documents such as certificates of origin and trading invoices.
During the forum a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed as a first step towards the establishment of a National Council on Trade and Transport Facilitation. The Council will work for coordination and setting up of a National Electronic System on Trade and Transport (sub-systems transport, trade, banks, administration).
