On the initiative of H.E. Pamela Deen, Ambassador of Sri Lanka, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry was visited by Ms. Kshenuka Senewiratne, Additional Secretary Political Affairs at the Ministry of External Affairs of Sri Lanka. The President of the Chamber presented the activities and services which BCCI provides to local and foreign companies.
The guests got acquainted to the economic and investment climate in Bulgaria and the most perspective sectors for investment – agriculture, automobile parts industry, IT sector. The President of BCCI reminded that our country has the lowest state debt in Europe.
During the meeting the upcoming trip to Sri Lanka of a business delegation for establishing contacts and studying the spheres for cooperation was discussed. Ms. Kshenuka Senewiratne expressed readiness to assist all initiatives that are in the best interest of the cooperation between the two countries.
On her part, H.E. Pamela Deen said that Bulgarian entrepreneurs could trade with Pakistan and India through Sri Lanka, which has free trade agreements with those countries. The Ambassador also informed that the economy of the country is developing successfully and it has the second largest growth in Asia. The services sector and especially tourism are developing rapidly. A new large port is being built in the south part of Sri Lanka and will be completed soon.
