Business forum organized by BCCI as part of the Presidential visit to Austria









 During the working visit of the President of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev to Austria, BCCI in cooperation with the Austrian Economic Chambers (WKO) and the Embassy of Bulgaria in Austria organized and held Bulgarian – Austrian Business Forum with the participation of Ministers Lilyana Pavlova and Ivaylo Moskovski and more than 400 Austrian and 36 Bulgarian businessmen.

 

Bulgarian President Plevneliev said at the forum: “Our understanding is this - politicians need to create the general conditions and support the initiatives of individuals and the business. Therefore, Austria is a very desirable partner. It is the second largest investor in Bulgaria with the potential to become the largest.”

 

“The joint efforts of the business and the Government ranked Bulgaria among the countries with the lowest taxes in the European Union, with the best financial discipline and lowest public debt, and we believe the investment opportunities in Bulgaria are very promising”, said the President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tsvetan Simeonov who led the business delegation.

 

Bulgarian companies from the energy and energy efficiency sectors took part in the Bulgarian – Austrian Business Forum, alongside companies from the construction sector, including infrastructure, electrical technologies, transport and logistics sectors. More than 80 business meetings were held.

 

Metal Technology Group – Bulgaria finalized a transaction with its Austrian partner for the supply of materials for the water sector amounting to BGN 60 million.

 

During the forum, meetings and negotiations were held for the delivery of Bulgarian telecommunication equipments, cooperative production and supply to third countries, supply of modular systems for quick and cheap construction of crisis settlements – in case of earthquakes, floods, etc., for the development of joint investment projects with private capital from interested investors.

 

Talks were held for establishing partnerships between Bulgarian and Austrian companies for the implementation of infrastructural projects in our country, joint participation in tenders, and involvement of Bulgarian construction companies as subcontractors in the implementation of projects in Austria and other countries.

 

Logistics and transport companies attended a seminar dedicated to the implementation of future projects under the “Danube Strategy”. The consultancy companies which took part in the delegation enjoyed great interest from the Austrian partners in view of the growing interest towards Bulgaria as a destination with excellent opportunities for development of investment projects.
