BCCI hosted a presentation on the business opportunities and investments in the Bulgarian ethnic area Taraclia, Republic of Moldova. The event was organized in conjunction with the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Moldova and was attended by representatives of the local authorities of Taraclia Mr. Alexander Garanovski - President of the Regional Council of Taraclia, Mr. Sergei Philipov – Mayor of Taraclia, H.Exc. Mr. Alexandru Prigorski - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Dancho Simeonov - governor of the city of Varna as well as representatives of Bulgarian business circles.
The members of the delegation from the Moldovan region of Taraclia made a number of business proposals for the Bulgarian business. One of the specific proposals was the idea of a business center to help entrepreneurs at the early stage of their activity. The help will include rental offices, tax advice, accounting services, vocational training of entrepreneurs etc. To assist a hotel was proposed for the Bulgarian business – a tourist complex with a Bulgarian cuisine restaurant, organization of excursions, rural tourism and ecotourism. Representatives of the area of Taraclia see potential in the ideas for processing of agricultural raw materials, rabbit breeding farms and closing the cycle with processing of the production to a final product on the market.
A project related to walnut trees was mentioned because of the advantages of the long shelf life of the product, good transportation conditions as well as income of many years because a lot of countries from the EU, the Middle East and Asia export nuts from Moldova.
The workshop was officially opened by Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov, BCCI President. He expressed his satisfaction with the interest shown in the bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Moldova. BCCI stated its readiness to support the development of the relations between the two countries, promoting the business opportunities and investments in the region of Taraclia. An address from H. Exc. Mr. Georgi Panayotov, Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Moldova was also presented thanking BCCI for rendering its help in organizing the workshop and sharing the hope to revive the Bulgarian region of Taraclia in Moldova

Taraclia Regional Council President presented the region established in 1980 and inhabited by 2500 people, the Bulgarian population amounting to 67%. The presentation was focused on the two free economic zones - "Taraclia Industrial Park" and “Tvarditsa Free Entrepreneurial Zone” with their strengths and weaknesses as well as the legislation stimulating investments in the region. At the end of the workshop the Governor of the City of Varna Mr. Dancho Simeonov asked the businessmen questions from his area and invited the delegation from Moldova to present their proposals in Varna as well.
