First meeting of the Advisory Council assisting the Council of Ministers in the formulation of state policy for disaster protection





 The first meeting of the Advisory Council assisting the Council of Ministers in formulating the state policy for disaster protection was held with the participation of the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov. 

The Hiogo Framework for Action in the period 2011 – 2013 was presented alongside the functions of the national platform. Various ideas and suggestions for activities to be included in the annual work programme of the Council were considered. The main proposal was to adopt a strategy to reduce the risk of crises. The other proposals included: drafting a progress report on the implementation of the Hiogo Framework for Action for the period 2011 – 2013 and sending it to the Secretariat of the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR); preparing guidelines for training in the field of disaster protection and crises response; coming up with methods for analysis, evaluation and mapping of disaster risks; pool of insurers for protection against catastrophic risks; coordinating the establishment and integration of monitoring systems; planning financial resources for protection against disasters. 

Prior to the meeting, BCCI also sent its list of proposals.
