GS1 Bulgaria participates in the GS1 in Europe Regional Forum in Bucharest

From basics to innovation


Nine years ago GS1 discussed mainly how to implement the basic and core elements of the system. At this year’s Regional Forum in Bucharest (16 – 19 October 2012), the discussion will focus more on innovation and future opportunities. Globalization trend and technology development expand the possibilities for GS1 system and open new areas to explore. Guided by the principle that each innovation requires good foundations to start with, GS1 chose the motto of the forum in Bucharest “From basics to innovation”.

 
Data Quality and Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN), as well as mobile applications and cooperation between sectors when identifying consumer goods will be discussed at the GS1 in Europe Regional Forum. Bulgaria is represented by Nadezhda Pancheva and Chavdar Selveliev – members of the GS1 Bulgaria Council, Hristo Sodev, Executive Secretary and Lyubomir Gaydarov, GS1 Bulgaria Expert. Tomorrow they will be joined by the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov.
 
Out of 108 national GS1 organizations worldwide, 45 are the national organizations in Europe. Simultaneously with the GS1 in Europe Regional Forum, a meeting of the GS1 in Europe Regional Board will take place. The Board comprises the CEOs of the European GS1 Member Organizations. At the meeting, GS1 Bulgaria will be represented by Mr. Hristo Sodev.
 
Key topics included on this year’s agenda include global traceability ensured by the GS1 standards, mobile communications and their application in trade, results from the use of mobile applications to verify the legitimacy of identification numbers. The development and application of GS1 standards in eGovernment will be emphasized. eInvoicing trends in various European countries will also be discussed.
 
Once again B2C remains one of the main topics of the forum. Traceability of foods along the supply chain will be reviewed. The President of GS1 Mr. Miguel Lopera will present a report on the latest developments in the GS1 activity globally.

The GS1 system of standards is used in all sectors and facilitates trade by combining unique identification numbers and data carriers with e-Commerce.
 
GS1 is an international not-for-profit association whose mission is to be the neutral to its business partners, guided by the needs of the users of its standards. GS1 serves both larger multinational companies and SMEs. It is a platform for cooperation between business partners.
