Acting and pilot projects presented at the GS1 Regional Forum in Bucharest
Today, the first plenary sessions during the GS1 in Europe Regional Forum were held with the participation of representatives of the GS1 Bulgaria Council with BCCI*. The morning session was dedicated to the global and regional updates concerning the GS1 activity and strategy. During the session acting and pilot projects were presented with emphasis on:
•Strategies of GS1 in Europe
•BarCode Conformance – GS1 Spain
•Logger for Staff / Quality of Gepir – a project in which GS1 Bulgaria also participates. The project envisages an application to be developed allowing to collect information about the legitimacy of the barcode of a certain product and its owner by scanning it with mobile phone. On the basis of the analysis of the scans made by all project participants until now, information was presented about the main reasons for existence of illegitimate barcodes as well as proposals for its prevention.
During the afternoon session the latest developments in B2B2C applications and standards were discussed. Several B2C pilot solutions were presented. Their main goal is to facilitate the access of consumers to manufacturer’s data or information published by other reliable sources at a time and place which is convenient to them using a mobile device and the GS1 standards.
The second plenary day tomorrow will be dedicated to e-Government and how the GS1 standards may facilitate its implementation and functioning. Another key topic will be e-Invoicing and its progress in Romania. The representatives of GS1 Austria will demonstrate the e-invoicing solution used in Denmark, where more than 30 million companies and public entities have GLNs** and use e-invoicing, as well as many other GS1-based e-communication services.
During the second plenary session tomorrow special attention will be paid to product traceability and DataBar marking of fresh products, as well the benefits of its use.
* The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) is the official representative in Bulgaria of the International non-governmental association GS1 since late 1991. The activity of national organization GS1 is carried out by the GS1 Bulgaria Council with BCCI.
