BCCI participated in the International Conference on Railway Infrastructure and Facilities
Railway experts from across Europe met in Sofia at the conference
At the international conference on the railway infrastructure and facilities organized by the Bulgarian Association for Geotechnical and Tunnel Construction (BAGTC) Bulgarian railway experts met with business and academic representatives from across Europe.
Lachezar Iskrov, member of the Executive Council and the Management Board of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and President of the Council of Branch Organizations with BCCI participated in the conference. In his speech Lachezar Iskrov noted that rail transport was environmentally friendly mode of transport, which could contribute to imposing new forms of mobility that were energy efficient and reduced the risks of aggravating pollution and climate change; it could also offer high quality, reliable, safe and secure services and thereby facilitate the sustainable development of the Bulgarian and European economy.
"With Railway Projects we want to focus the public attention on the important question of the condition of the railway infrastructure in Bulgaria, to get the standpoint and the recommendations of foreign experts and current and potential investors about the working conditions in Bulgaria," said Dr. Eng. Victor Tashev, president of BAGTC.
The conference was attended by a number of distinguished experts and professionals from the industry.
Successfully implemented and future domestic and foreign projects such as "Tunnels of Railway project “Stuttgart 21”, “Construction of Corridor No 8, Radomir-Gyueshevo”, “High-speed section Ebensfelt-Erfurt, Germany” etc. were presented at the conference.
This is the third conference organized by the Bulgarian Association for Geotechnical and Tunnel Construction, and the first focused on the railway infrastructure. BAGTC dedicated the first two forums to the characteristics of geotechnical and tunnel construction and the strengthening of landslides and the protection of beaches.
