At BCCI the second successful presentation of the business opportunities in India was held
On 25 October, at BCCI a business seminar was held on theme “India – perspectives in the sectors energy, transport, machine-building and food industry”. The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov, H.E. Divyabh Manchanda, Ambassador of India to Bulgaria and Delyan Dobrev, Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism took part in the forum together with representatives of the Association of Companies for Food Processing Machine Building in Bulgaria (HRANTEHMASH) and Bulgarian businessmen. A conference call via skype was made to lecturers from the European Business and Technology Center (EBTC) – India.
The seminar was opened by Tsvetan Simeonov who related it to the successfully held business delegation in India, accompanying Minister Delyan Dobrev on his trip on the occasion of the 17th session of the Joint Intergovernmental Committee in the period 15 – 16 October 2012. The President of BCCI estimated highly the progress achieved in the expansion of the economic cooperation with India, as well as the entrepreneurial spirit of the potential Indian partners.
H.E. Divyabh Manchanda thanked the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism and the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for organizing the business delegation to India, and said that in the last couple of years there has been genuine interest in developing business cooperation between the two countries.
The Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism of the Republic of Bulgaria Delyan Dobrev admitted that the organization of the business delegation and the session of the Joint Committee surpassed his expectations. On the basis of his visit to India, the Minister outlined the sectors which have greatest potential for cooperation – namely the food industry and food processing technologies. Since Bulgaria is traditionally competitive manufacturer of this type of machines, companies from the sector were invited to BCCI to get acquainted to the opportunities for investment and establishing contacts with Indian partners. Mr. Delyan Dobrev informed the participants about the preferential terms for participation of Bulgarian companies in the international India Engineering Sourcing Show which were negotiated with the Minister of Industry of India. The exhibition will take place in Mumbai in March 2013. Fifteen Bulgarian exhibitors could use free airplane tickets, accommodation and preferential rental prices for the exhibition stands. BCCI will organize the participation of Bulgarian companies in the exhibition. The Minister also presented new possibilities for organization of business visits to India and expansion of the bilateral economic cooperation.
After the economic relations between Bulgaria and India were presented, Mr. Simeonov discussed with Minister Dobrev and the representatives of the Association of Companies for Food Processing Machine Building in Bulgaria (HRANTEHMASH) the development potential of the food industry and machine-building industry. Minister Dobrev informed that in the first half of 2012 Bulgaria exported machinery and equipment to India to the total amount of approximately EUR 560 thousand. India produces 94.5 million tons of milk of which only 5% undergo processing because of the lack of appropriate machinery.
Meanwhile, via video conference EBTC experts Mr. Dibyendu Sengupta and Mr. Vital Dage made a presentation on the business opportunities in India. Two sectors were presented – energy and transport. EBTC’s mission is to promote investments in green technology and clean transport. The lecturers made a thorough presentation of the two sectors, outlined the main problems and emphasized the investment potential. Import of electric cars and components for their charging, production of bio fuels, railway transport innovations, combining various energy sources – bio fuels and wind energy, alternative energy sources are among the most promising sectors for establishment of cooperation between Bulgaria and India.
The Bulgarian participants in the seminar had the opportunity to ask questions and hear the experts’ replies.
Upcoming missions organized by EBTC in India by the end of 2012 were presented. In the period 7 – 9 November 2012, a European business mission with companies from the energy sector will visit New Delhi, India on the occasion of the 6th International Renewable Energy India 2012 Expo. The exhibition is organized with the support of the Indian Government – the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and the Ministry of Power.
In the period 6 – 8 December 2012 in New Delhi, a European business mission will take place with the participation of transport companies. The mission coincides with the exhibition Urban Mobility India 2012 for sustainable urban transport.
The advantages from participating in those missions include:
-Participation in the respective international exhibition and the accompanying conference;
-Presentation of the activity of the Bulgarian companies – research, technology and solutions;
-Getting acquainted to the private and public sectors of India in the respective area – energy or transport, current projects;
-Obtaining information about various sources of financing for projects in the sector;
-Meetings with potential Indian partners selected in accordance with specific criteria;
-Visits to local landmarks and companies from the respective sector.
