At the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry a meeting was held between the President of the Chamber Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov and Mr. Baftjar Zeqaj, Mayor of Municipality Fier, Albania. Mr. Florjan Mucaj, Vice-Mayor Economic Affairs, as well as two businessmen from Albania – Mr. Dimiter Ikonomi and Mr. Vlash Ristani also took part in the meeting. BCCI has organized additional meetings in Bulgaria for the Albanian delegation.
Mr. Simeonov acquainted his guests with BCCI’s activity and initiatives. The Chamber’s excellent relations with the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Albania were noted. On his part, Mr. Zeqaj informed about his successful cooperation with the Bulgarian Embassy in Tirana.
Municipality Fier is an agricultural area which is very important for the economic development of Albania. The occasion for the visit of the Albanian representatives to Bulgaria is to hold meetings with Bulgarian companies from the canning industry, meat industry, wineries and manufacturers of machinery and equipment for the food industry. The Mayor of Fier and his companions wish to get acquainted with the technology and possibilities to establish joint ventures in order to expand the cooperation between Bulgaria and Albania. Earlier that day, they met with one of the leading Bulgarian meat companies. The delegation will have a series of meeting all over the country, which were organized by BCCI in cooperation with the Embassy of Bulgaria in Tirana.
Recently BCCI organized a Bulgarian – Albanian Business Forum within the official visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Boyko Borisov to Albania. Then, the Secretary General of BCCI Vasil Todorov said that the Republic of Albania was one of the most promising trade and investment partners of Bulgaria in the Western Balkans. Bilateral trade turnover has increased - the balance is traditionally positive for Bulgaria. In the last 10 years Bulgaria ranked 4th and 5th among Albania’s foreign trading partners.
