Mock election held at the U.S. Embassy foretold who the new American President would be
The U.S. Embassy in Sofia organized a reception last night on the occasion of the U.S. Presidential Elections 2012. Politicians, bankers, diplomats, public officials, representatives of the media and NGOs attended the event.
The guests had the opportunity to vote in a mock U.S. presidential election. The results of the mock election – 75 % votes for Barack Obama to 20 % for Mitt Romney foretold the victory of Barack Obama announced later.
The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov also attended the reception and took part in the mock election. The guests also had to opportunity to take part in a U.S. presidential trivia quiz with 12 questions.
The Ambassador of the United States to Bulgaria H.E. Marcie Ries said that there would be continuity in the United States’ foreign policy regardless of who the next president was.
