BCCI at a South African Business Forum







 

There has been a forum on business within the framework of the 20th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between South Africa and Bulgaria.
 
Bikey Matlung, Advisor at the Embassy of South Africa in Bulgaria opened the forum. The main presentation was made by the South African Ambassador to the Russian Federation - Mandisi Mpahlua (former South African Minister of Trade and Industry, 2004 to 2009 then, until his appointment as an Ambassador, a Special Adviser to the President of South Africa - Jacob Zuma). Statements were also made by H. Exc. Mrs. Sheila Camerer, Ambassador of South Africa to Bulgaria and Eugenia Haritonova - Deputy Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism.
 
Tsvetan Simeonov, BCCI’s President, joined the forum with a short welcome address to the participants. In his speech Tsvetan Simeonov observed the following: "We should take an example from South Africa and Bulgaria and show Bulgaria, not as a corner of Europe, but the way South Africa was presented in the center of the world map. We will support all proposals of the SA Embassy directed to the Bulgarian business community for presenting the economic opportunities and the latest developments in the initiatives of the Republic of South Africa and they will quickly reach more than 52000 member-companies of the Chamber.
 
Last but not least is the fact that any proposal for joint business initiatives will be welcomed and supported by BCCI. Information that we get about local business opportunities and investment plans will be presented in due course to the Bulgarian business community."
Tsvetan Simeonov extended his special thanks for the assistance of Ambassador Sheila Camerer and the Commercial Office of the Embassy.
 
In order to strengthen and expand the trade and economic relations and the cooperation with South Africa the regular exchange of economic and business information has been proposed in order to support the reciprocal participation of Bulgarian and South African companies in international fairs and exhibitions in both countries and the exchange of business delegations.
