Bulgarian-Saudi Arabian Business Council with BCCI was established

On 24 November 2010 a Bulgarian-Saudi Arabian Business Council (BSABC) was established with the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI). Over 40 Bulgarian companies from various sectors of industry (in the field of trade and manufacture of organic oils and herbs, radar systems, tyres, decorative plants, construction and building equipment, transport, real property, legal services, trade centers, etc.) took part in the initiative.

The founding assembly elected a board of the BSABC – a Club Council consisting of 5 members: a president, two vice-presidents and two members. Mr. Nikolay Filipov, who is the initiator of the idea for a Bulgarian-Saudi Arabian Business Council, was elected as President of the Council. Two vice-presidents were elected – eng. Nikolay Valev, coordinator of Trace Group Hold, and Mohamed Hassan Hamidi Saker, executive director of SBL Group.

The event was attended by H.Exc. Radion Popov, former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Popov was appointed Bulgarian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with a decree of the former Triple Coalition government. He pointed out that Bulgaria is in serious need of an Embassy in Saudi Arabia, no matter who gets to head it.

H.Exc. Saleh Al-Ghamdi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Greece, also supported the initiative and confirmed that he will take part in the next BSABC meeting. The Bulgarian-Saudi Arabian Business Council is designed to encourage and support the activity of all economic and non-profit organisations willing to work for the development of the commercial and economic relations of the two countries.
