BCCI was the host of a Bulgarian-Uzbek business forum on 15th November 2012. The event was within the framework of the 3rd session of the Intergovernmental Bulgarian-Uzbek committee for trade-economic and scientific and technical cooperation held in Sofia. The Minister of Regional Development and Public Works of Bulgaria Lilyana Pavlova and the Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of Uzbekistan Elyor Ganiev are co-chairs of the committee.
According to the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism of the Republic of Bulgaria, in recent years foreign trade between Bulgaria and Uzbekistan has been characterized by repeated growth of Bulgarian export consisting of manufactured goods. In 2011 trade between the two countries registered an increase of 22.4% compared to 2010, Bulgarian export to Uzbekistan - 14.7% and import - 46.0%.
There is bilateral economic interest in the following sectors: food processing, pharmaceutical and light industry, petrochemical industry, transport and vine growing and wine producing.
