Business Forum at the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry
On 25 January, a business forum was held at the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry, within the official visit of Bulgarian Prime Minister Mr. Boyko Borisov to Japan. The forum was opened by Mr. Koichiro Fukui, Chairman of the Japanese-Bulgarian Economic Council.
Mr. Traycho Traykov, Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism and Honorary President of the Bulgarian-Japanese Economic Council and Mr. Miroslav Naydenov, Minister of Agriculture and Food greeted the participants in the forum and confirmed the intention of the Bulgarian government to maintain one of the most favourable economic environments in the EU, with the lowest production costs and the lowest tax rates.
BCCI President Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov greeted the participants on behalf of the members of the Chamber – 52,000 companies, 28 regional Chambers of Commerce and Industry and over 100 branch organizations. He stressed on the government’s efforts in maintaining a favourable business environment and reducing the administrative burden in the country. Mr. Simeonov emphasized the good reputation and market positions of the companies participating in the delegation, which are among the leaders in their respective sectors, as well as their intention not only to establish contacts with Japanese companies, but to reassure their positions on the Japanese market.
The President of the BCCI especially noted the participation of Mr. Ognyan Donev, Chairman of the Confederation of the Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria in the delegation. The important contribution of the Japanese-Bulgarian Business Council was underlined, and especially the contribution of its Chairman Mr. Koichiro Fukui, and of H.Exc.Makoto Ito, Ambassador of Japan to Bulgaria and his predecessor H.Exc.Tsuneharu Takeda. BCCI is prepared to fully support with its contacts and expert knowledge investors in the high-tech sector, in order to increase the competitiveness of Bulgarian economy in the EU.
Mr. Evgeny Angelov, Deputy Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism and Mr. Kiril Nikolov, Executive Director of the National Company Industrial Zones made presentations about the investment opportunities in Bulgaria.
Informal bilateral business meetings were held, during which the leading Bulgarian wine producers “Todoroff” and “Terra Tangra” presented their products. Over 40 Japanese companies took part in the forum, among which leading corporations, companies specialized in providing technological solutions and innovations or working in investment.
As a continuation of the meeting held last week between the BCCI and representatives of the Japanese Bank for International Cooperation, the Director of the Bank for Europe, the Near East and Africa took part in the forum.
