The first step towards Bulgaria joining GDSN is important
TWO ROUND TABLES ON OPTIMIZING AND DECREASING THE EXPENSES OF MANUFACTURERS AND RETAILERS
In two consecutive days, 26th and 27th January 2011, GS1 Bulgaria Council at the BCCI jointly with SA2 Worldsync organized two round tables with the participation of representatives of the retail chains and their suppliers – leading Bulgarian manufacturers. During the forums SA2 Worldsync was presented by Mr. Jurgen Staeder, Senior consultant of the company. The company is one of the leaders in development and operation of GS1 certified data pools in the Global Data Synchronization Network. SA2 Worldsync has a lot of practical experience in GDS and is active in Europe, the USA and Asia.
During the round table the possibility to start a pilot project in Bulgaria as a first step towards Bulgaria joining GDSN was discussed. The manufacturers raised the question of registration of products with variable weight. Mr. Staeder presented the capacity of the system not only to register and recognize the various types of end products as trade units, but also to register and follow larger trade units such as boxes, pallets, etc.
What is the Global Data Synchronization Network /GDSN/ and how can it be implemented in Bulgaria?
GDSN is a platform that allows suppliers and retailers to work with consistent master data for their products and services, subject of their business relations. It is based on a network of electronic data pools, which contain the necessary attributes of the products and services and are also in compliance with GS1 standards. The master data synchronization in GDSN ensures the confidentiality and integrity of user information and provides retailers and suppliers with significant benefits, such as:
oDirectly improving the administration of orders – up to 50%
oReducing the work on data management – up to 30%
oReducing logistics costs
oReducing the time for acceptance of goods with more than 1000 hours
oReducing the discrepancies between invoices with up to 20%
oReducing the time between making the order and paying with up to 20 days
oRemoving the double work efforts
oProviding potential for rationalization, etc.
Every retailer and manufacturer should estimate their company’s expenses and multiply the per cent with the time which this activity takes, so that they can estimate for themselves how the use of the technological opportunities which the GS1 GDSN provides for Bulgarian companies and how it can increase the company’s efficiency, the President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov said during the seminar. The sooner Bulgarian business starts using these technologies, the bigger our chances to fit in the European and world market. A wonderful illustration of these opportunities is the fact that 4000 new German companies have joined the system only for a month. These entrepreneurs have obviously made their estimations, and realized the benefits which master data synchronization in GDSN brings, such as guaranteeing exactness, fullness and actuality of data. Therefore, the first step towards Bulgaria joining GDSN is important, Mr.Simeonov concluded.
