A meeting between Bulgarian businessmen and a Chinese business delegation from the Jiangsu province was held at the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In his opening speech, Mr. Zhu Min, Director General of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce, said that Shanghai also used to be a small fishermen’s village in the Jiangsu province. This is a coastal province with population over 77 million people and a territory, which is smaller than the territory of Bulgaria. The province has enormous industrial potential. The annual turnover with the EU only amounts to USD 90 billion.
Later on, bilateral meetings were held, dedicated mainly to the strong sides of the Jiangsu economy – solar and wind generator installations, production of photovoltaic panels. Businessmen from the sectors of power engineering, construction, automobile production, and production of medical apparatuses were presented.
According to the provided statistics, Jiangsu province manufactures photovoltaic panels for two-thirds of the Chinese market and provides one-fourth of the world production. The first photovoltaic park in Bulgaria, near Ihtiman, also uses appliances produced in the Jiangsu province.
During the meeting, an invitation was extended to the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce. The Vice President of BCCI, Mr. Georgi Stoev, received a parchment – replica of the presentation of the Jiangsu province at the Shanghai World EXPO 2010.
