BCCI: The private sector has always shown commitment to salary levels, but the comments should be made after the discussions in the NCTC
With regard to today’s publications about an 11% increase of salaries in the private sector by the end of the year, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry considers that the proposal and the problems should be discussed by the bodies established for this purpose.
A working group on these issues has been formed with the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation. We believe that at this stage it would be counterproductive to disclose the discussions to the media. When there is an official body, the various possibilities should be discussed by it and then announced to the wide public.
One thing is clear at the moment – a directive for the private sector cannot be adopted, because there are differences in all enterprises and sectors of economy. During the transition period, the private sector has always demonstrated exceptional commitment. For several years in a row before the crisis, salaries in the private sector grew, exceeding both the inflation and increased productivity.
