Iran, Bulgaria hold high-level business forum VIDEO
Right before the event, they had close-door meetings with Bulgarian Ministers of economy, energy, transport. The results?
Dr. Nahavandian provided us with some impressive numbers: Iran's GDP of 870 billion dollars makes it the 17th biggest economy in the world. Iranian export in 2010 reached 79 billion USD and imports were at 59 billion USD. Iran also has the second largest natural gas reserves in the world with 30 trillion cubic meters, and ranks third in oil reserves with 137 billion barrels.
All of these, combined with the fact that Iran is among the least affected countries from the global crisis, make Bulgarians eager to do business with the Islamic Republic.
And this is a two-way street…
Bulgarian and Iran traditionally enjoy friendly political relations and the Iranian Ambassador to Sofia advised the delegations to make good use of them and transform them into mutually beneficial economic ties. Experts also call for a redirection of Bulgarian businesses.
This would happen as soon as the Bulgarian delegation visits Tehran in the coming months.
As a result of the Bulgarian-Iranian business forum, a joint Trade Association is to be established soon. This would boost not only bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Iran, but also those on a larger scale - between the EU and the Middle East.
