Revenues from the tourism sector to exceed €3 bn in 2012
“Expected revenues in the budget from the tourism sector for 2012 will exceed €3 bn,” stated Ivo Marinov, Deputy Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism, in Kardzhali.
“Nearly 500,000 Russian tourists and about a million Romanians are expected to visit Bulgaria this summer,” stated Marinov on the Bulgaria On Air TV. He said that between 5% and 8% more foreign tourists will visit the country this year.
“Tourists from Russia will be about 20% more during this summer season. Growth is expected in the number of travellers from the UK, Germany and Romania,” said the Deputy Minister in charge of the branch. In the first three months of the year, the sector reported 4.9% more foreign tourists, compared to the same period of 2011.
“Given the growing middle class in India, an increasing interest of Indians in new destinations, including our country, has been noticed,” stated Tsvetan Simeonov, Chairman of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the opening of the seminar Bulgaria - a New European Destination on the Indian Market. In 2011, nearly 4,000 Indian tourists visited our country.
