| Ās compared to the previous period the alterations in the
Gross Domestic Product and the structure of Gross Value Adeed in 1999, indicate a clearly
expressed process of restructuring of the national economy. This is due to the orientation
of the various economic sectors to the real market conditions. Nominal growth in the
economy is observed despite of the stagnating international sutuation, strong competition
of the liberalized market, and conservative behaviour of the bank sector. The real representatives of the positive processes in the national economy in 1999 were again in the observation field of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This analisis contains information about the companies with top economic results in 1999 according to more than 4,000 annual balance sheets available in the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. A precondition for the selection of the companies was that all of them must have business activity in 1998 and 1999, with top values of the revenues from sales for 1999, and their own capital and financial results in 1999 must be positive values. Out of the group of companies with a total sum of the assets - 33,233 mln. BGN subjected to analisis by the BCCI, are selected 100 companies with total sum of the assets - 3,920 mln. BGN. They ended 1999 with net profit of 341.5 mln. BGN. As the rate of the growth of the profit in comparison with the previous year is 10.4%. The companies with top values of the revenues of sales for 1999 are "BULGARIAN TELECOMMUNICATION COMPANY" JSC - SOFIA, "MINI MARITZA IZTOK" JSC - RADNEVO and "NAFTA TRADING" JSC - BOURGAS. |
Unlike the previous year the BCCI applied on aditional
criterion to the selection of companies - their profit for 1999 must cover their debts to
the budget, suppliers, staff, and social funds. This approach determined the selection of
the second group of 100 companies with total sum of the assets 752.9 mln. BGN, and with
net profit 168.7 mln. BGN. Of particular importance for this group of companies is, that
paralelly with the correct attitude towards their partners, they demonstrate growth of the
profit with 52.8% in comparison with the previous year. The companies with top values of the revenues of sales finding place in this group are "BALKANPHARMA" JSC - DUPNITSA, "AGROPOLICHIM" JSC - DEVNJA, and "ZLATNI PJASUTSI" JSC - VARNA. These 200 companies are also classified in accordance with the alteration in the revenues of sales 1999/98, the profit in 100 BGN revenues of sales, and the profit in 100 BGN assets. 50 holdings classified according to maximum margin of profit for 1999 also find place in the present booklet. The first three of them are "BULGARTABAK HOLDING" JSC - SOFIA, "DOVERIE OBEDINEN HOLDING" JSC - SOFIA, and "ALBENA INVEST HOLDING" JSC - SOFIA. The present material is based on statistical data.
